In the meantime, a claim stating that the milk price will increase to ₹100 is being circulated on social media after a local Hindi newspaper quoted the District Head of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) saying that the price of milk will be doubled to ₹100 per liter as a mark of protest against the rising fuel prices. #1MarchSeDoodh100Litre trended on Twitter, with many asking if it was indeed true.
Indian Express reported that the 'khap panchayat' (community council) in Haryana's Hisar had urged dairy farmers to sell milk at ₹100 per liter to government cooperative societies. However, Samyukta Kisan Morcha's spokesperson clarified that their union did not call for a boycott of milk sales or hiking the price. He further requested the farmers to ignore any such wrong message purportedly sent by the Kisan Union.
