The order given by the Supreme Court of India confirms that media should publish an official version of corona developments to tackle fake news.

The order given by the Supreme Court of India confirms that media should publish an official version of corona developments to tackle fake news. The Central Government has sought a direction from the Supreme Court that no media outlet should print, publish, or telecast anything on COVID-19 without first ascertaining facts from the mechanism provided by the government. This decision was taken to prevent fake and inaccurate reporting whether intended or not, either via electronic print or social medial which can cause panic in the society.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
