There is no evidence to suggest that Joe Biden has or intends to step down as president-elect.

There is no evidence to suggest that Joe Biden has or intends to step down as president-elect.A screenshot was widely shared on social media of an alleged FOX Atlanta story, published on Jan. 1, 2021, with the headline "President-Elect Biden steps down as President-Elect." The report claims that Biden's resignation came "due to an unspecified health issue" after he consulted his family and legal team.

The claim is false as there is no evidence to suggest that Biden has stepped down as president-elect or of him suffering from any "unspecified health issue." Biden has not made any such suggestions either on any of his social media handles or the official transition website. The image has been doctored to lend it the appearance of an authentic news article. A fact check by USA Today revealed that a search of keywords included in the post yielded no matches on Fox Atlanta's site. Also, in a December 2019 medical assessment, Dr. Kevin O'Connor of George Washington University said Biden "is a healthy, vigorous, 77-year-old-male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency."
