Facebook restored the Kisan Ekta Morcha account, which had been blocked.

On Dec. 20, Facebook restored the Kisan Ekta Morcha's page, which had been blocking by the social media giant for flouting community standards.

On Dec. 20, Facebook restored the Kisan Ekta Morcha's page, which had been blocking by the social media giant for flouting community standards. On Dec. 20, during a live broadcast, the protesters claimed that the Facebook and Instagram accounts used by farmers protesting against the center's contentious farm laws were blocked. After a public uproar, the pages were restored about three hours later. Kisan Ekta Morcha’s managers reported that their page was taken down by Facebook, claiming that it went against its community standards on spam. A screenshot of the Facebook page was posted on Twitter, showing that the page was unpublished because the Kisan Ekta Morcha page was flagged by Facebook for allegedly flouting community standards.

The farmers’ groups confirmed the restrictions came after a live broadcast by Swaraj Indian chief Yogendra Yadav, one of the leaders, declared an indefinite hunger strike beginning on December 21. This triggered a heated debate online over media censorship. The farmers said their Instagram page had also been blocked and that they could not publish any new content for their campaign.

Facebook has said that they have restored Kisan Ekta Marcha's Facebook page and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by it. The company did not provide further clarification on whether the page had breached relevant community guidelines on spam, which warranted blocking the page.
