Doctors from Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital are practicing 'nasal wash' every day to prevent COVID-19.

There is insufficient evidence to confirm that all the doctors at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital practiced Jal Neti to prevent COVID-19 infection.

There is insufficient evidence to confirm that all the doctors at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital practiced Jal Neti to prevent COVID-19 infection.Dr.Dhananjay Kelkar, from Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, demonstrated Jal Neti (the yogic practice of nasal-wash) and claimed that many doctors at the hospital are practicing it, and claimed that it could help prevent asymptomatic COVID-19 infections. Pune Mirror reported that the doctors who had practiced Jal Neti twice a day are uninfected, and about 22 healthcare staff members who had not practiced it are infected.

However, there is no confirmation of whether all healthcare workers and doctors practiced it, and whether doing or lack thereof was the sole reason for some of them getting infected.

The World Health Organization states that there is no evidence that regular rinsing of the nose with saline or regular water prevents respiratory infections.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
