Mukesh Ambani on Dec, 08 announced that the Reliance Jio company will roll out 5G services in India in the second half of 2021.Reliance Industries' chairman Mukesh Ambani said on Dec. 08, 2020, that 5G services are expected to be introduced by Reliance Jio in the second half of 2021. At the Digital India Mission at India Mobile Congress 2020, Ambani said that the policy measures were essential to speed up an early 5G roll-out and make it affordable and available everywhere. He added that the indigenous community would sponsor the network, hardware, and infrastructure components. Jio's 5G service is a witness to Aatmanirbhar Bharat's inspiring vision. 5G is the 5th generation mobile network that allows almost all computers, objects, and smartphones to be linked.
In a statement, Ambani said that over three hundred million mobile subscribers remain in the 2G era in India. Policy measures are needed to ensure that those poor people have an affordable smartphone, take advantage of a direct transfer to their bank accounts, and actively participate in the digital economy. Throughout 2020 India has been working online, learning online, shopping online, having online health care, socializing online, and playing online. Mr. Ambani said the Indian economy would rebuild and grow with an unprecedented acceleration with the recession caused by Covid-19.
