
In India, internet services were launched on August 15, 1995, and the sale of commercial digital cameras began in the 1990s.
Steven Sasson, an engineer at Kodak, invented the first digital camera in 1975, which captured black and white images at a resolution of 0.1 megapixels. The first digital color camera called 'electronic still camera' was patented in 1978, but Sasson could not publish outside the Kodak company. The first modern digital single-lens reflex camera was made by Steven Sasson and Robert Hills in 1989.
Internet access for the Indian public officially began after the internet services were launched on August 15, 1995, by the Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited. The government opened the telecommunications sector to private companies in November 1998.
