The Rajya Sabha news report and a YouTube video uploaded by Hindustan Times confirms that Citizenship Amendment Bill is based on religion.According to an article published by the Rajya Sabha TV on 4th December 2019, Union Cabinet has cleared the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill that seeks to grant citizenship to non-Muslim refugees.

According to a youtube video by the Hindustan Times, Home Minister Amit Shah on 20 November 2019 told Rajya Sabha that the government will carry out National Register of Citizens (NRC) across the nation. He added that the Citizenship Amendment Bill will facilitate the process to grant Indian citizenship for non-Muslims from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
