There is insufficient publicly available evidence at the current time to accurately verify this statement.According to The Times of India article dated 17th April 2019, a 22-year-old named Prem Shree burnt her husband Satyaveer Singh because she did not like his dark complexion, as alleged by the victim's brother Harveer Singh. The article quotes the Station House Officer of the Kurh Fatehgarh saying that Satyaveer was taken to a hospital in Moradabad where he succumbed to the burns. The police will further investigate the matter and record the statement of the accused.

However, as of 10 December 2019, there are no official records or statements available online to verify the motive of the crime.
