Mahmudul Hasan Maruf was attacked with acid by a fellow female college student for not accepting her love proposal. A 17-year-old college student from Dhaka was admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for the serious injuries that he suffered from an acid attack. The incident allegedly occurred at the house of his female college student named Bhabna Akhter Ria, of the same village. They both were close to each other, and Ria had offered her love interest to Maruf for some time.
The incident happened when Maruf was going to a friend’s house when Ria took him to her house and attacked him by throwing acid onto his face and shoulders.
Later, Maruf had run to the local Rashidpur Bazar with burns where locals had sent him to Jamalpur General Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The police had arrested Ria and her mother in the case.
