Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain said there is a shortage of private hospital beds, especially in ICUs, due to patients from other states.Delhi is witnessing a steep rise in the number of novel coronavirus cases. Almost all ICU beds in most of the private hospitals in the national capital are occupied. Satyendar Jain said that out of 15,804 beds in Delhi hospitals, 7,051 beds were occupied at present. However, they are facing a problem as there is a shortage of beds. Thirty percent of the COVID-19 patients admitted to city hospitals are from other states, and most of them have been occupying ICU beds at private facilities. As of September 22, there were are around 1,000 ICU beds available in Delhi. Around 1,500 non-ICU beds and more than 500 ICU beds have been added over the last few days. Delhi's private hospitals may lack ICU beds, but the Delhi government is trying to increase them. Further, Mr. Jain said that the number of vacant beds is available on the Delhi Corona app and that nothing is being concealed.
