A press release by the Ministry of Railways said that quarantine centres have been set up by the Zonal Railways.The release on 7 May 2020 detailed that 5231 coaches had been converted into COVID care centres and Zonal railways had converted these coaches into quarantine centres. These would be parked at 215 stations across the country to supplement the health care efforts of Government of India. It said the coaches can be used by the States which have exhausted the facilities and needs to augment capacities for isolation of both suspects and confirmed COVID-19 cases.
