Oceans absorb around 30% of global carbon dioxide emissions.

The oceans absorb around 30% of the CO2 released into the atmosphere which in turn has resulted in the pH level of the oceans going down.

The oceans absorb around 30% of the CO2 released into the atmosphere which in turn has resulted in the pH level of the oceans going down. The concentration of Carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is increased by human activities like the burning of fossil fuels. The land and plants absorb 25% of CO2, and roughly 30% is absorbed by certain areas of the oceans, while remaining will stays in the atmosphere. The ocean is an important sink for anthropogenic CO2. If high emissions continue, ocean acidification levels are projected to grow 144 percent by the year 2100. The high amount of CO2 absorption by the oceans has resulted in the pH value of the oceans falling by 0.1%. This change in pH value increases the density of ocean water which in turn directly affects marine life.
