
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's daughter Harshita had lost ₹34,000 while trying to sell a second-hand sofa on OLX.
To check if she had shared the correct bank details, the accused initially transferred a small amount to her account following which he sent a QR code and asked her to scan it so that the amount decided could be transferred to her account.
When she scanned the QR code, ₹20,000 got deducted from her account. The man claimed he had sent the wrong QR code by mistake and soon sent another link, asking her to do the same. He assured her she would get the deducted amount along with the price for the sofa. But ₹14,000 got deducted from her account again, he said.
On Feb 15, three people were arrested by the Delhi Police. "Three accused named Sajid, Kapil, and Manvendra have been arrested for duping Arvind Kejriwal's daughter. One main accused is absconding who used to make fake accounts on e-commerce sites," a source told news agency ANI. The incident took place on Feb 7.
