On Dec. 2, 2015, the Ministry of Home Affairs provided information regarding the number of terrorist attacks from 2012 to 2015. The report highlighted ten incidents of serial bomb blasts and IEDs explosion in those three years. It detailed the number of terror attacks, the number of security personnel killed, and the number of terrorists arrested and killed in the various parts of the country.

The National Security Guard's National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC) said in a government reply to Lok Sabha on Apr. 11, 2017, that in India, 406 blast incidents (337 improvised explosive devices and 69 explosive ordnance) took place in 2016. The data includes all major and minor IED blast incidents in the country, including accidental, the reply said.

On Oct. 21, 2019, an explosion was reported at Hubballi railway station in Karnataka, the Ministry of Railways said in reply to Lok Sabha on Nov. 20, 2019. Four bomb eruptions were recorded in Assam on Jan. 26, 2020, with no casualties.

From 2000 to Dec. 10, 2020, there have been 5,806 explosion incidents in many parts of the country, of which 2,031 blast incidents occurred between 2010-20 as per the South Asia Terrorism Portal's data analysis.
