The United Nations has suggested that multilateral response amounting to at least 10% of global GDP is needed to manage the coronavirus pandemic.In a report titled 'Shared Responsibility, Global Solidarity: Responding to the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19,' the United Nations(UN) stated that the world is facing a global health crisis unlike any in the 75-year history of the United Nations and the coronavirus disease is striking societies at their core. Furthermore, the International Monetary Fund(IMF) has declared that the world has entered a recession worse than in 2009. According to the UN, an immediate health response is required to suppress the transmission of the virus to end the pandemic and to tackle the many social and economic dimensions of this crisis. One of the ideas put forward in the report is that the world requires a large-scale coordinated, and comprehensive multilateral response amounting to at least 10% of global GDP to tackle the socio-economic impact of the crisis. However, the fact that the UN is seeking the power to impose a 10% global tax on everyone is misleading and cannot be proven.
