California recorded over 3 million COVID-19 cases on Jan. 19, 2021, topping the list, followed by Texas and Florida. The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. as of Jan. 19, 2021, was 2,42,98,827, with 4,01,607 deaths. California reported 3,019,758 confirmed cases and 33,746 deaths on Jan. 19. 2021. Texas has recorded more than 2 million cases, while Florida recorded surpassed 1.5 million cases.

The PBS News Hour reports that California had reported its first COVID-19 case on Jan. 25, 2020. Cases touched a million on Nov. 11, and with rapid speed within 44 days, with 2 million cases being confirmed by Dec 2020.

Despite lockdown, 1 out of 13 people have tested positive in the state, Los Angeles Times noted. The virus is found to be widespread in 54 of the 58 counties.
