But, in the video footage uploaded by CNN News18 on 9 May 2019, Admiral L. Ramdas, Former Indian Chief refuting the claim stated that Rajiv Gandhi had not misused INS Viraat and he used it for an official meeting. The former Chief Information Commissioner of India (CIC) Wajahat Habibullah, who was the administrator of Lakshadweep that time, rejected the allegations and stated that the ship was certainly stationed, but that was for security purpose.
