The Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR)'s scientists said that an antibody formula against the COVID-19 has been patented.Israeli Defence Minister Naftali Bennett said in a statement that the 'monoclonal neutralizing antibody' was developed at the IIBR, which could effectively neutralize COVID-19 inside carriers’ bodies. Bennett visited the IIBR on 4 May 2020, where he was briefed on a significant breakthrough in finding an antidote for the COVID-19. IIBR Director Shmuel Shapira said that the antibody formula has been patented, after which an international manufacturer would be sought to mass-produce it.

IIBR in its press release said that a platform has been well established for antibody engineering and had managed to isolate monoclonal antibodies against viruses. IIBR is first to demonstrate that the antibody that was isolated from the COVID-19 patients can counterpoise the virus. It also said that they would mass produce it for clinical use.
