The Deputy Commissioner of Police of South Delhi took to twitter and denied the imposition of Rs.11,000 fine for violating Janata Curfew.On March 19, 2020, the Prime Minister implored all citizens of India to observe a self-imposed curfew from 7 am to 9 pm IST on Sunday, 22 March 2020 to help contain the spreading of coronavirus disease in India. After the announcement, a picture of notice was circulating on social media informing people of Rs 11,000 fine on anyone who violated the Janta Curfew. However, the DCP of South Delhi took to twitter to refute this claim and said that the notice being circulated on social media is fake.
Subsequently, on 24 March, the prime minister announced that India goes under total lockdown for 21 days.
