Due to a lack of evidence, it is not possible to objectively verify if Israel was behind the attack at the Iranian nuclear site.On July 02, 2020, there was a fire and explosion in a building at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility site in Iran. The fire had been extinguished, and there had been no nuclear material or other radioactive material in the building. Iran said the cause of the incident was unknown, and the investigation into the matter is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, before the Natanz fire announcement, a BBC's Persian journalist said that he received an email from a group identifying itself as the 'Cheetahs of the Homeland' claiming responsibility for the attack. The BBC did not immediately verify the claim.

Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz reacting to the allegation indirectly said that Israel is not associated with the incident which occurred at the nuclear site in Iran.

However, there is no confirmation by Iran on how the incident took place as the matter is still under investigation.
