Italian scientists have found COVID-19 to be a blood agglutinating disease caused by bacteria and not by a virus.

COVID-19 is not thrombosis and has been proven to be a disease caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2 and not by any kind of bacteria.A social media post has been circulated claiming that Italian scientists had found out that COVID-19 to be a blood agglutinating disease caused by bacteria and not a virus, citing the Italian Ministry of Health as a source. However, no such announcement has been made by the Italian Ministry of Health. The agency has clearly explained that the disease is caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2.

According to the World Health Organisation, the disease COVID-19 is caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2 and not by bacteria.

The British Medical Journal has stated that doctors have been seeing high rates of blood clots in patients who are seriously ill with COVID-19. It has explained that patients' blood had been very sticky because the disease had increased the liver's production of clotting factors.

It does not mean that COVID-19 is a blood agglutinating disease.

Also, respiratory failure is the leading cause of death among coronavirus patients.

Currently, there is no specific medicine recommended to prevent or treat the pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
