Bensalem police have warned parents to check their children's Halloween candy because strangers may intentionally harm them with marijuana edibles.

Bensalem police have warned parents to check their children's Halloween candy because strangers may intentionally harm them with marijuana edibles. In recent years, with marijuana becoming legal in more states, the concern has shifted to children accidentally ingesting tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) disguised as traditional snacks.

According to WPVI-TV (affiliated to ABC News), a police department in Pennsylvania warned parents to be on the lookout for marijuana edibles in their children's trick-or-treat candy bags.

Odessa American reported that William Goodman, a 20-year-old Philadelphia resident, was arrested after being caught with 50 pieces of THC edibles packaged to closely resemble popular candy and snack foods. Goodman alleged that he purchased the snacks in California and intended to sell them in Pennsylvania.

So far, there are no documented cases of minors accidentally consuming cannabis candies distributed on Halloween.
