Over a hundered crows have died because of an outbreak of the avian influenza or the bird flu in many states of India.Avian influenza (bird flu) refers to the disease caused by an infection in birds. The disease usually spreads when migratory birds are coming into India during the winter months. An outbreak of the Avian Influenza has affected several thousands of birds across the country. India notified the outbreak of bird flu to all the states after confirmation of positive samples from ICAR-NIHSAD. An advisory has been issued to the states to take preventive measures to prevent the further spread of the disease. The states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Kerala are identified as epicenters.

Over 250 crows were found dead due to bird flu in Rajasthan. Scores of crows were also reported dead in Rajasthan and Kotdwar, and Dehradun districts of Uttarakhand. The virus is now present in 10 states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Delhi. Indore city officials confirmed that the virus was present in the carcasses of crows found on Daly College's campus. The virus has also spread to other species like ducks, poultry, and migratory/wild birds.
