In a major breakthrough in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, Israel claims to have developed an antibody against coronavirus.

The Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) has developed a monoclonal neutralising antibody against COVID-19.

The Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) has developed a monoclonal neutralising antibody against COVID-19.A news release on the IIBR's official website which has cited the Reuters article states that Israel has isolated monoclonal antibody against the virus at its main biological research laboratory. The antibody was derived from a single recovered cell and is thus potentially of more potent value in yielding a treatment. The IIBR Director Shmuel Shapira had said that the neutraliser formula was being patented, after which an international manufacturer would be sought to mass-produce it.

Israel's Ministry of Defense in a tweet said that the IIBR has completed a scientific development, determining an antibody that neutralizes the coronavirus (SARS-COV-2).

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
