WHO experts say asymptomatic patients can spread the coronavirus although the level of transmission by asymptomatic carriers is being scrutinised.
Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, the WHO expert, had said before that it was very rare for asymptomatic people to pass the disease based on a relatively small set of studies. The next day she issued a clarification that transmission that comes from people with no symptoms is still a big unknown. During the same press briefing, Dr. Michael Ryan said he is convinced that suspect cases who are asymptomatic were transmitting the disease.
Recently, another WHO official Dr. Takeshi Kasai said in a virtual press conference that most of the asymptomatic patients are unaware that they can spread the disease and are unknowingly passing on the virus to others.
