The Union Ministry of Home Affairs is yet to permit the reopening of schools and colleges in phase II of the COVID-19 unlocking.On May 30, 2020, the Ministry of Home Affairs had unlocked areas outside the containment zones in a phased manner. The Ministry had planned to reopen schools and colleges or coaching centers after discussing with the parents and other stakeholders in July 2020. The Health Department would give Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) to the educational institutions before opening. The Union Education Ministry has instructed states and Union Territories to take the parents' feedback when they are comfortable sending their children to schools. The Human Resource Department is concentrating on online classes instead of classroom teachings. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the Education Minister, has also clarified that the Ministry will consult the Home and Health Ministries before making any decisions. However, the Ministry is yet to take the final decision to reopen educational institutions.
