There are registered sex offenders in the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus.

The list of the sex offenders released on social media doesn't have San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus members.

The list of the sex offenders released on social media doesn't have San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus members. On July 7, 2021, the South Francisco Gay Men's Chorus members released a song titled "A Message from the Gay Community." The lyrics of the song read, "You think that we'll corrupt your kids if our agenda goes unchecked… Funny, just this once, you're correct", Yahoo News reported.

According to the report, during the four-and-a-half-minute song, the men joke about making children "tolerant and fair," adding that they're going to do it "bit by bit, quietly and subtly." However, soon after the release, the group started facing abuse and death threats. Various right-leaning websites and conservative social media users described the song as "sick" and "disgusting."

On July 9, Gay Men's Chorus released a statement that the song's lyrics were "taken out of context by the far-right conservative media" and that the same has been done to promote a narrative suiting intolerant and hateful needs.

But, some of the right-wing social media users claimed that the chorus members were registered sex offenders and shared a purported list whose names match the chorus members. However, Megan's Law database found that the members in question merely shared a name with offenders on the registry and are registered hundreds of miles away from San Francisco, SFGATE reported.

Therefore, considering the members were misunderstood as offenders only because they shared the same name, the claim that San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus has registered sex offenders is misleading.
