ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) successfully launched the seventh satellite in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS).On April 28, 2016, the seventh satellite of the IRNSS was launched into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (Sub-GTO) by the PSLV in its thirty-fifth flight (PSLV-C33). It was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. PSLV-C33 used the 'XL' version of PSLV equipped with six strap-ons, each carrying twelve tons of fuel in the launch, as used in the previous six launches of IRNSS satellites.

The independent regional navigation satellite system, IRNSS, is intended to provide position information in the Indian region. Standard Positioning Services (SPS) and Restricted Services (RS) are the two types of services offered by IRNSS. All the ISRO scientists and team ISRO were congratulated by India's Honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for completing the IRNSS constellation. He dedicated IRNSS to the nation as 'NavIC' (Navigation with Indian Constellation). He appreciated India's space community for making the country proud through such achievements.
