Images were falsely shared with a message that China and its communist party are funding the Marxist Communist Party of India.A viral message is circulating on social media claiming that China and its Communist Party are funding the Marxist Communist party (CPI-M). The message included photographs of CPI (M) leaders Sitaram Yechury and Brinda Karat holding placards which read as 'Indian Army Down. Down, We Support To China, Zindabad'. The message attempt to show that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is offering support to Communist-ruled China.

However, on June 16, 2020, the CPI(M) through a tweet had posted the same images. The photos were shot during a protest against the policies of the PM Modi government. The placard held by Sitaram Yechury with a slogan 'Immediately asking cash of Rs.7500/- per month to persons living outside income tax slab for 3 months and Brinda Karat placard showing a slogan which read-7 Provide 10 kg free foodgrains per month to all needy individuals for six months'.

Hence, the images of CPI(M) leaders holding placards in protest against the policies of the Modi government were photoshopped to show them holding placards with anti-army slogans falsely.
