Chaudhary admitted Pakistan's role in the Pulwama terror attack after PM Imran Khan had already denied his country's involvement.
On October 29, 2020, the Former Minister of Information and Technology Fawad Chaudhary, while addressing Pakistan's National Assembly, said that "2019 Pulwama terror attack was a major success for Imran Khan government", the News Services division of the All India Radio reported.
Chaudhary, a close aide of Pakistan PM Imran Khan, said, "We hit India in their home." He added, "our success in Pulwama is a success of this nation under the leadership of Imran Khan. We are all a part of that success", according to an Indian Express report.
Video footage of Chaudhary's address was Tweeted by news agency ANI, where the fellow parliamentarians object to his mention of Pulwama's "success." After that, the minister quickly retracts his comment, and says "we attacked India after the Pulwama incident, within their territory."
Back then, after the attack, Prime Minister Imran Khan denied his government's, Pakistan military's, or even Pakistan-based terror group's role behind the attack. In fact, in a statement released by him, he said, "Pakistan offers full support for any investigation into Pulwama (terror attack). I guarantee action on this want to tell the Indian government that we will take action if the evidence is found against anyone from Pakistan", the India Today reported.
On February 14, 2019, a jeep loaded with explosives hit a CRPF vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama's Lethpora, killing 40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel. Pakistan-based terror group- Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the attack.
In reprisal for the Pulwama attack, Indian Air Force planes bombed a JeM training camp in Balakot, Pakistan, the AIR reported.
