Lieutenant Colonel Mike French's statement support the end of 17 May's demonstration after a Snowbirds aircraft crashed in Kamloops.The lieutenant colonel said that on 17 May 2020, around 11:45 am shortly after take-off from Kamloops Airport, a Canadian Forces Snowbirds CT-114 Tutor, crashed into a nearby neighbourhood killing Captain Jenn Casey, the team’s Public Affairs Officer and injuring the aircraft’s pilot, Captain Rich MacDougall. He further said that operation Inspiration would be postponed as of 17 May until under notice.

Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister said that he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of the Canadian Armed Forces member and injury of another member in the Snowbirds crash. He also said that Snowbirds represent the very best of Canada and demonstrate excellence through incredible skill and dedication.

The news article says that witnesses told the aircraft was following another jet when it appeared to veer upward and circle the tarmac before going into a nosedive.
