The date change was attributed to the pandemic situation and the audience potentially hesitating to return to cinemas right after the release of Warner Bros.'s other film 'Tenet.'

Warner Bros. and DC Comics have postponed releasing the 2017 superhero film's sequel, starring Gal Gadot, to 2020 Christmas day. As the pandemic situation continues, there were speculations that the film would go directly to streaming. Director Patty Jenkins took to Twitter and stated that direct to streaming was not considered as an option.
