Trump administration plans to declassify the reports on Chinese Bounties on U.S. forces, but officials have not elaborated on the matter.
National Security Advisor, Robert O'Brien, briefed Trump about the unconfirmed intelligence on Dec. 17, 2020. The report says the interest in Afghanistan stems from Beijing's desire to prevent Chinese Muslim separatist groups from using the country as a base. However, one senior U.S official described the intelligence as “very thin" and less credible without any hard evidence. Axios reported that the information would be declassified, but White House officials have not elaborated on it.
