The video of a girl being trashed in Gujarat for eloping was falsely shared as a Dalit woman beaten in UP for drawing water from the well.A video shows a group of men attacking a tribal girl in Chhota Udepur district of Gujarat, for allegedly eloping with a man. The video has been shared on social media with a claim that men from the upper castes in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, were punishing a lower caste woman for drawing water from their well. The Sonbhadra Police have denied the claim and clarified that it is an old video, which was circulated with misleading content, and the incident took place in the state of Gujarat, not Uttar Pradesh.

The police have registered a case against those involved in the incident, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police A.V. Katkad.
