The central government has decided to resume DA and DR for central government employees and pensioners from July 1.

Finance Ministry has tweeted that no Memorandum has been issued regarding the resumption of allowances of Central government employees and pensioners.

Finance Ministry has tweeted that no Memorandum has been issued regarding the resumption of allowances of Central government employees and pensioners. A document is being shared on social media that says that the dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) benefits shall resume for Central Govt workers. However, the Union finance ministry has clarified that the document is fake and has not issued such an order. The clarification comes just a day before the government is scheduled to hold a meeting to decide on the pending arrears.

An increase in DA and DR will grant more money in the hands of the employees. The government previously announced a freeze of the DA and DR in the year 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also said no arrears would be paid from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
