The PMF's share to Chhattisgarh from the Centre has considerably reduced since 2013-14 to around ₹ 20 crores in 2019-20.

The PMF's share to Chhattisgarh from the Centre has considerably reduced since 2013-14 to around ₹ 20 crores in 2019-20.The Police Modernization Fund is allocated each year by the respective states and the Central government to ensure the modernization process of police infrastructure and equipment. Chattisgarh is one of the biggest Maoist-influenced states in India. The police force of the state and other special commando units of the CRPF regularly engage in anti-Maoist operations. So it is crucial for the police in Chhattisgarh to be equipped with the latest weapons and tactical gear to counter the threat.

Chhattisgarh Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu had written to Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 22, 2020, asking him to increase the Centre's share in the Police Modernization Fund (PMF) for the state. The letter also noted that despite receiving ₹56 crores from the centre in 2013-14, the state's requirements fell short of ₹20 Crores. The letter further noted that the Centre's contribution has further gone down to ₹20 crores recently.

As per the Annual Report published by the Indian Ministry Of Home Affairs, the Center's share to Chhattisgarh's PMF in 2014-15 was ₹37.36 crores, and in 2019-20 (as of March 31, 2019), it stood at ₹7.29 crores. At one point in 2016-17 and 2017-18, the Centre's contribution to the state's PMF was at ₹1.73 crores and ₹2.02 crores.

Thus it is evident that the Central Government's share of Chhattisgarh's PMF has considerably reduced since 2014.
