An unrelated incident of murder is linked to Pragya Mishra. She is alive and has been in home isolation as per COVID-19 health guidelines.A viral post with visuals of a woman lying in a pool of blood claims that journalist Pragya Mishra was murdered in broad daylight for questioning the organizers for allowing the Kumbh Mela event despite a surge in the COVID-19 cases. Pragya Mishra herself issued a clarification in a tweet saying that she is completely safe at her home and the news of her murder is just a rumor. Also, we found that the images and video are from an incident that occurred at Delhi’s Rohini Vijay Vihar. It was reported by The Hindu dated 11 April 2021, which said that a 40-year-old man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in Rohini’s Vijay Vihar. Republic TV also uploaded the video clipping of the incident on its Youtube channel. Thus we can infer that the viral video is falsely shared as the murder of UP-based journalist Pragya Mishra. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
