The BJP government has made no official statements to set up a JPC probe into the Rafale deal as Congress is seeking an investigation. On July 4, 2021, Rahul Gandhi posted a tweet inquiring why Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not set up a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for the Rafale deal. He also added: "Guilty conscience," "Friends too need protection," and "All the options are correct." NDTV reported that this tweet surfaced after Modi's silence over the French investigation into the ₹59,000-crore Rafale jet deal. According to the documents available, Congress said that money is paid to middlemen, indicating corruption in the Modi government. Media reports quoted senior Congress leader and former Defense Minister A. K. Antony saying the government should conduct a JPC investigation. He said the JPC would point out the evidence, facts, and illegal activity in the Rafale deal. As yet, there have been no official statements or documents released by the Modi government to show any imminent JPC set up for a probe into the Rafale deal. Documents pertaining to the deal are also not available for the public.
