The Ministry of Finance ensures that the central economic package amount will be directly transferred to the account of the beneficiary.
Nirmala Sitharaman announced the special economic package worth Rs 20 lakh crore under COVID-19 situation. The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee said the initiative as 'a big zero' and further added that the Modi government provided nothing for the public spending.
On 13 May 2020, West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh claimed that state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is criticising the economic package of Centre and further alleged that CM is unhappy as the amount is directly being transferred to the beneficiaries.
However, it is not possible to objectively verify whether CM Mamata Banerjee was unhappy with the central package as the amount was being transferred directly to the weaker sections of the society.
