The word "Congress" was never mentioned in the Twitter profile of former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh.

The word "Congress" was never mentioned in the Twitter profile of former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh.Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the post of Chief Minister on September 18 and announced that he would quit the Congress party because he felt humiliated. Soon after, several media houses, including Hindustan Times, NDTV, Zee News, misreported that Amarinder Singh had dropped "Congress" from his Twitter bio.

Upon verification, we found that the word "Congress" was never included in his Twitter bio. Before and after his resignation, the online archives of his Twitter profile, available on Archive and Wayback machine, did not have "Congress" mentioned in the bio. His Twitter bio until September 17 was "Chief Minister of Punjab and a Military historian" and was changed to "Army Veteran | Former Chief Minister Punjab | Continuing to serve the State." His present bio also does not include "Congress."
