Soon after, several media houses, including Hindustan Times, NDTV, Zee News, misreported that Amarinder Singh had dropped "Congress" from his Twitter bio.

Upon verification, we found that the word "Congress" was never included in his Twitter bio. Before and after his resignation, the online archives of his Twitter profile, available on Archive and Wayback machine, did not have "Congress" mentioned in the bio. His Twitter bio until September 17 was "Chief Minister of Punjab and a Military historian" and was changed to "Army Veteran | Former Chief Minister Punjab | Continuing to serve the State." His present bio also does not include "Congress."
