The mansion is the photo is the DuPont mansion which Biden owned almost 20 years ago and he bought it when it was slated for demolition. A viral photo claims that a massive mansion in Wilmington, Delaware, belongs to President-elect Joe Biden. The photo was making rounds during the first week of October. “Biden’s huge Delaware mansion, one of largest in the state!” reads the caption.

However, the Delaware home featured in the photo was formerly owned by Biden, and he has not owned the property in 24 years. As a senator in the 1970s, Biden bought the house, slated for demolition, for $185,000. The New York Times reported in 2008 that Biden bought the Wilmington, Delaware home for $185,000 in 1975 after learning it was slated for demolition and renovated it extensively.

Currently, Biden owns two homes, a main residence in Wilmington, Delaware (not the one shown in the picture), worth $2.9 million, and a vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, estimated to be worth $1.9 million.
