A statement was released by Biden’s transition team reiterating their firm commitment to the Indo-US strategic partnership. President-elect Joe Biden had a telephonic conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Nov. 17, 2020. It was their first conversation since the results of the presidential elections 2020 were declared.

After the conversation, a statement was released by Biden’s transition team, saying that the president-elect "looks forward to working closely with the prime minister on shared global challenges, including containing COVID-19 and defending against future health crises, tackling the threat of climate change, launching the global economic recovery, strengthening democracy at home and abroad, and maintaining a secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region."

Even Modi took to Twitter and said that he spoke to Biden and congratulated him. Both sides reiterated their firm commitment to the Indo-US strategic partnership.

Modi congratulated Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, America's first Black, Indian-American, and female vice president, on her win in a tweet. "Her success is a matter of great pride and inspiration for members of the vibrant Indian-American community, who are a tremendous source of strength for Indo-US relations," the Indian PM said.
