Sleep disorder is associated with COVID-19.

Sleep disorder was observed in some patients hospitalized for COVID-19, however, it is not an official virus symptom.

Sleep disorder was observed in some patients hospitalized for COVID-19, however, it is not an official virus symptom.According to the American Psychiatric Association, sleep disorders, including insomnia, sleep apnea, and restless leg syndrome, result in complications with the quality and amount of sleep.

A study examining 572 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 found that almost 20 percent of the cohort suffered from sleep apnea, while 11 percent had insomnia. However, Neurology Advisor, a website offering comprehensive neurological information, reported that sleep disorders in COVID-19 patients do not "contribute to mortality or severe outcomes."

Although several studies have reported sleep disorders associated with COVID-19, it is essential to note that it is not an official virus symptom.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19, including symptoms, prevention, and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organization or your national healthcare authority.
