China has built a model village in one of the disputed regions along the LAC, which has been under Chinese control since 1959.NDTV accessed two images of the area where China has set up a new village inside Arunachal Pradesh. The first image, dated Aug. 26, 2019, did not show any human habitation; the second one of Nov. 1, 2020, shows a row of about 100 houses. As per NDTV's analysis, China entered 4.5 km inside the Indian territory of the de facto border.

The India-China border covers a 3,488 km long Line of Actual Control (LAC). China claims Arunachal Pradesh as part of Southern Tibet, while India opposes it. The area has been long disputed by both countries and has been marked by armed conflict.

Thousands of troops from both sides are deployed at the border since clashes erupted in May 2020. The satellite images sparked a fresh controversy between the two countries. However, Indian Defense Ministry sources have confirmed that the new village location has been under Chinese occupation since 1959 and was not recently occupied by China. The government said it keeps a strict watch on all the developments which threaten India's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On the other hand, China has said that construction was being done in its Southern region and reiterated that they did not recognize Arunachal as it was part of Southern Tibet. Since China has refrained from disclosing its map of the Tibetian region bordering India, and India acknowledges the McMohan Line as the LAC, we can say that the constructions carried out by China in the area bordering Arunachal Pradesh which is under Chinese control since 1959. This does not account for a fresh transgression of the PLA into Indian territory.
