The New York Post states that the Stevenson's and Biden's grew close in 1972, but Bill first suspected an affair between Jill and Joe in 1974. Contrastingly, Inside Edition states that Jill Biden has denied her ex-husband's claims. Her spokesperson has said that these claims are fictitious and intentioned to sell and promote Stevenson's book.
