On March 23, 2010, Obama signed the bill, and legislation represented a government takeover of 1/6 of the U.S. economy, which cost nearly $1.8 trillion. And bill provides consumer protections for those with insurance, an exchange that allows individuals and small businesses to purchase affordable coverage, and a requirement that people who can afford insurance get insurance.
