Nine U.S.-Mexican dual citizens were ambushed and slain on 4 November 2019 by suspected drug gang assassins along a remote road in the northern Mexico border state of Chihuahua.

Trump tweeted that an American family, including youth and children, were killed in the shootout between two drug cartels in Mexico. He had also mentioned that the U.S. would help Mexico in further procedures of the incident if necessary.

An official statement released by the Embassy of the United States in Mexico on 7 November 2019 confirms that the nine people died at the border of Sonora and Chihuahua close to the U.S.-Mexican border.
