A press release by the Metropolitan Police confirms that Extinction Rebellion are not banned from protesting in London.According to Metropolitan Police updated news, Conditions were imposed on Extinction Rebellion but they have not been banned from protesting in London. The MPS has imposed conditions under Section 14 of the Public order Act 1986 upon the Extinction Rebellion ‘Autumn Uprising’ demonstrations which have been taking place for nine days.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London tweeted on 15 October that neither he nor the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime was informed by Metropolitan police before taking operational decision to impose a section 14 order on Extinction Rebellion on the night of 14 October 2019. He has clarified that he has taken the necessary measures and received assurances that the climate change protesters will be allowed to protest peacefully and that they were not banned from doing so.
