BJP has withdrawn Sangeeta Sengar's candidature from the UP panchayat elections after it drew criticisms from the public.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier announced Sangeeta Sengar as a candidate for the district panchayat member from Ward No. 22 of Fatehpur Chaurasi. Mrs. Sengar had earlier held the post of the district panchayat chairperson and she is the wife of expelled MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted for charges of rape in Unnao in 2019.
However, the BJP later canceled her nomination after it drew criticisms from the public. UP's BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh said that she would not be a BJP candidate in the upcoming panchayat elections and noted that the Unnao party president has been asked to submit three fresh names for finalizing a candidate.
